One-on-one meetings

classroom

At our schools Eurocentres Vancouver, Toronto, and San Diego, each student has the chance to have a one-on-one meeting with their core teacher every two weeks. This gives you the opportunity to get personalized feedback from the teacher that knows you best!

Here are some topics that can be covered in your one-on-one meetings:

  • Your goals for English. Whether you want to learn English to work, study, or just talk to people around the world, your teachers want to understand your motivation so you can focus on what’s important to you!
  • Your speaking tests. Every two weeks, you will do a speaking test in class. Your teacher will listen to every member of the class during this test and give you feedback about your vocabulary, accuracy, pronunciation, and interaction. This will help you discover what you need to work on.
  • Your grammar tests. Every four weeks, you will do a grammar test in class. Your teacher may go over the results of this test with you and give you more detailed information about which grammar points you need to review and which ones you have already mastered.
  • Study suggestions. Your teacher will use the results of your tests and performance in class to help you decide where you can spend your study time outside of school. Your teacher may advise you to sign out a grammar textbook, watch a YouTube video, write a journal entry, or even just go out for lunch with some English-speaking friends!
  • Your level. If you want to know what level you are according to Eurocentres, the CEFR, or what level you might score on a test like IELTS, your teacher can help you understand. They can also help you find out what you need to do to get to the next level (or the one after that.)

Of course, your one-on-one meetings aren’t all about academics! You can also talk to your teachers about:

  • Your homestay. Your teacher is part of the team that will make sure you are comfortable with every part of your experience at our school. They will ask you about your homestay and direct you to one of our friendly homestay coordinators if you need more help.
  • Where to go in Vancouver, Toronto, or San Diego. Your teachers live here! They can give you lots of advice about the best places to shop, eat, or drink around the school.

We hope that you come to join us at in San Diego, Toronto, or Vancouver and have the chance to experience feedback from our amazing teachers.
