World Student Day 2016

This year’s Languages Canada celebration of World Student Day took place on July 15th at Robson Square in Vancouver. Our students joined those from other English language schools as well as international students currently attending high schools and colleges in the Vancouver area to play games, listen to music, eat food and generally celebrate their time in Canada.

The annual World Student Day event offers a unique oppourtunity to acknowledge the students that come from all over the world and choose to study in Canada. Each of these students makes a significant contribution to Canada’s culture, economy and education sectors and should take this day to recognize their impact.

Eurocentres Vancouver provided tickets to over 150 of our students and welcomed many more at our booth. In the spirit of being Canadian, we had an air hockey table for students to challenge their classmates and new friends and of course maple leaf temporary tattoos. Other booths included a giant Jenga game, Twister, a photo booth and even an obstacle course with various prizes to win. Students also had the oppourtunity to hear Deputy Mayor Councillor Heather Deal speak and watch the talent show, musical performances and take part in a giant dance party. All in all it was a fun day with a great international atmosphere.

Again, a big thank-you to Languages Canada and Discover Canada Tours/Club ESL for orchestrating this event as well as the various sponsors including Guard Me International Insurance for their significant contributions. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!
