2019 Winter Christmas Activities in Vancouver


“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!..”

Dear students, we have prepared a list of great festive events and activities in Vancouver:

  • GLOW Vancouver Christmas Festival – the biggest indoor Christmas Festival that offers interactive light gardens, illuminated structures, delicious food, festive drinks and daily live entertainment. Open every day from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • Vancouver’s Bright Nights at Stanley Park – Vancouver’s most amazing and affordable Christmas lights featuring millions of sparkling festive illuminations. Entry is by donation. In addition, hop on Bright Nights Miniature Train in the evening! It’s a 12 minute ride in Stanley Park that gives you an opportunity to enjoy the spectacular Christmas lights and be entertained by live performers. Buy tickets for the train ride in advance to avoid the line up!
  • PEAK OF CHRISTMAS – experience White Christmas at the top of the Grouse Mountain. Activities include: Santa’s Workshop, Sliding Zone, Gingerbread Village, Santa’s Reindeers, Sleigh Rides, Christmas Movies, Outdoor Ice Skating Pond, Craft Station and many other attractions. It is also a great opportunity to learn how to ski or snowboard with an instructor, as well as trying snowshoeing for the first time with your friends!

  • Visit Vancouver Christmas Market to experience Vancouver’s version of a German Christmas market; explore 80+ artisan traders’ wooden huts. It’s a great opportunity to try festive European food and mulled wine.
  • Capilano Canyon Lights – enjoy the atmosphere of a beautiful park and suspension bridge illuminated by millions of Christmas lights. Capilano Park is open from 11am to 9pm in winter, but the Christmas activities start daily from 4pm.
  • Aurora Winter Festival at PNE – great opportunity to enjoy fairground rides, ice skating, food gardens, live music and a thrilling tube park.
  • Karaoke Christmas Lights – for those who enjoys trundling around on a Christmas bus tour and singing seasonal songs on a karaoke machine.
  • Steveston Festival of Trees – the best historic attractions puts on a sparkling Christmas season show by hosting the annual Steveston Festival of Trees. Each tree is decorated by local organizations trying to outshine each other. Vote for the best decorated tree!
  • Robson Square Ice Skating – one of the true Canadian Christmas sport activities, recommended with a cup hot chocolate!
  • CP Holiday Train – the fully-decorated, beautifully illuminated CP Holiday Train arrives in British Columbia on December 11th, stopping in 24 communities to stage live musical performances and raise awareness and donations for local food banks.
  • Where: Haney-Maple Ridge (7:50pm on December 16); Pitt Meadows (8:55pm on December 16); Port Moody (5:20pm on December 17); Port Coquitlam (7pm on December 17)
  • 2019 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP – Watch a Junior hockey game at Rogers Arena on December 26 – January 5th. Cheer for Canada or your home Country!
  • Don’t forget to take memorable pictures with Santa and make a wish at any local shopping mall in the Greater Vancouver Area!
